Is U=U for everyone ?

Dennis Boyd | October 7, 2021

The PARTNER study concluded that there is zero HIV transmission regardless of type of sex. U=U is applicable to vaginal, oral, and anal sex.

For people living with HIV, it’s important to facilitate and support the use of HIV treatment to maintain an undetectable viral load as a prevention strategy. This can include supporting people to start treatment. Treatment guidelines now recommend that HIV treatment be offered to all people living with HIV as soon as they test positive. This recommendation is based on the health benefits of starting treatment early for people living with HIV, although an important secondary benefit is HIV prevention. A person’s decision to start treatment should be well informed. #ItStartsWithU
